Drilling Fluids Engineer at Newpark Drilling Fluids
May 2010 - March 2013As a Mud Engineer for Newpark Drilling Fluids I have had the privilege to work out of several offices for different operators, In Arkansas I worked for Southwestern energy. In Corpus Christi I worked for EOG, Swift, and Century Exploration, In the Oklahoma City office I have worked for BP, Cordillera Energy Partners, Apache Corp, Chaparral and QEP. I have experience with Oil Based Mud, Water Based Mud, and KCL Polymer systems. I have experience with lost circulation issues in the panhandle of Texas and western Oklahoma. I also have experience managing solids control systems in S.E. Texas closed loop OBM systems.

Drilling Fluids Engineer at Geo Drilling Fluids
April 2007 - March 2009As a Drilling fluid engineer is was my responsibility to maintain a sufficient inventory of mud materials on location or drilling site to deal with any issues that may arise from the drilling of the well. (i.e. well flowing, lost circulation, gas kick, etc). I was also required to do the testing of the mud to ensure parameters designated by the energy company are followed. In addition I provided advice and made recommendations to the drilling supervisor as to what properties of the mud may need to be adjusted to achieve the desired results for the logging of the well and safe completion procedures. The supervision of the rig workers during the mixing of mud materials in order to maintain the correct properties and safe mixing procedures fell into my responsibilities also. Both social and political savvy were necessary in this position to promote a solid business relationship with clients and with rig personnel and I have been successful in both areas.

October 2005 - December 2006My responsibilities performing this dual role as Offsite Superintendent/Assistant PM include but are not limited to the following; Conduct and/or attend meetings with various municipalities discussing plan approval dates, construction start and completion dates, and inspection dates. The construction of subdivision infrastructure prior to home construction beginning. In addition I meet with prospective contractors during the bidding process to discuss quick start procedures, 30, 60, & 90 day forecasting of progress should they be awarded the bid. I developed a baseline schedule of construction activities in sequence to prevent delays during construction. I was responsible for scheduling and supervision of all underground utility construction (wet and dry) as well as curbs, paving, erosion control devices, and methods for Swppps, exterior block walls, entry features and street lighting. Assistant Superintendent at JM Development
June 2003 - September 2005As an Assistant Superintendent, my duties included: Having a complete knowledge of all plans and specifications pertaining to the project I was assigned, as well as a knowledge of applicable building code requirements for that specific area. In addition I assisted in providing communication between sub-contractors and the site superintendent; I also acted as liaison between JM Construction and new homeowners by conducting the new homeowner orientation tour. I assisted with scheduling contractor's forces, quality control of work in progress, and completion of homes per schedule. I would also schedule city/county inspections and walk with the building official during his/her inspections.

September 1998 - June 2003Observing and advising contractors of the grading specifications regarding commercial office structures, residential sub-divisions, grading and paving of streets, erosion control devices, storm drain, sewer lines, domestic water lines, foundation piles, shoring piles. Performed ASTM 1557 (sand cone density/nuclear density gauge) compaction tests during construction activities mentioned above. Consulting Mud Engineer at JL Consulting Services Ltd.
March 2013As an Independent consulting Mud Engineer I have traveled to Pennsylvania to work in the gas well drilling currently underway in the Marcellus Shale, and I am currently assigned in the West Texas region drilling the Wolf-camp Shale formation specializing in oil based mud both synthetic & diesel. I have had opportunities to train younger less experienced mud engineers in running OBM and look forward to training new generations of mud engineers in the area of oil based mud.
